For Five Performances Only in The Dolmen Theatre
Tues, Sept 12th to Sat, Sept 16th 2017 at 8.00pm
This highly theatrical and immersive adaptation of Wilde’s classic novel has played to great acclaim throughout Ireland and has enjoyed several sold-out runs in Bewley’s Café and at the Viking Theatre. It comes to the intimate setting of The Dolmen Theatre for five performances only.
The story is set in the decadent world of Victorian London, where the socialite Lord Henry Wotton seduces the beautifully boyish Dorian Gray into a hedonistic life of indulgence, vice and dissipation. Infatuated by Basil Hallward’s portrait, Dorian makes a Faustian pact that he will remain forever young while the picture charts his decline into sin and ultimate self-destruction.
The Picture of Dorian Gray combines drawing room comedy and Gothic horror, and is a compelling, intimate and hugely entertaining theatrical event.
