In January 2016, David Rooney began recording his debut album ‘Bound Together’ with Declan O’Rourke as co-producer and featuring some of the finest musicians in the country.
In the intimate setting of The Dolmen Theatre, David Rooney will be joined by keyboard player Jay Wilson to showcase songs from 'Bound Together' as well as new material all interwoven with stories and reflections on his artistic journey.
Since graduating from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin (NCAD), David Rooney has amassed over thirty years experience as a freelance illustrator. As a contributor to The Irish Times and Hotpress his editorial work has reflected the tumultuous changes in Irish society.
Recent work has focused mainly on cultural projects including the BBC series ‘The Story of Ireland’, Titanic Experience Belfast, Lindisfarne Gospels Exhibition Durham and the Stonehenge interpretative centre. Last year ‘1916 - Portraits and Lives’, published by the Royal Irish Academy, received an IDI Design Award and the 40 original portraits were acquired by the State and exhibited in Kilmainham Gaol as part of the 1916 Centenary Celebrations.
The video for Moondust the latest single from Bound Together is David Rooney’s directorial debut features the acting talents of Malcolm Adams and Grace Kelley Fitzgerald who inhabit an environment created by Rooney’s own unique engraving technique.
